The world of whisky / whiskey is extremely diverse and exciting. This alcoholic beverage is produced, apart from the obvious ones made in Scotland, Ireland or the United States of America, but also in countries such as India, Taiwan, Sweden or Iceland.
All types of whisky / whiskey are made from only four grains. These are: barley, corn, rye and wheat. Malt whiskey (single malts or mixtures: blended / pure / vatted malt and teaspoon) is made exclusively from barley. American whiskey – is made from at least 51% corn. Single grain - from one of the grains mentioned above. All others (grain and blended) - can be made from any of them. We should also remember that all whiskey is whisky, but not all whisky is whiskey.
Whisky / whiskey can be really strong - the so-called cask strength is bottled with natural barrel strength. It can be sweet, dry, delicate or a bit spicy, it can be peaty or peat-free. It can be officially bottled in a given distillery (so-called Official Bottling) or independently (so- called Independent Bottling). It can be colored with caramel and cold filtered, and it may be deprived of these treatments. Finally, it can be a casual drink, easy to pick up and enjoy every day, and it can also be a special, limited, connoisseur edition, e.g. a highly wanted version of single cask (one distillate from one specific barrel) from a non-existent, legendary production plant.
Regardless of all this, whisky / whiskey has been winning the palates of many generations for years, its market is expanding, new distilleries are created, and new opportunities are presented to consumers. Millions of impressions closed in millions of bottles. And each of them is one of a kind ...
