The history of brandy goes back many centuries, while the one we know today was probably created in the Middle Ages by the Moors (Arabs). According to the regulations, it is a high-percentage alcoholic drink made by distilling grape or fruit wine. The name, derived from the Dutch language (brandewijn), means "roasted wine" (hence the Polish name “burned wine”; another Polish name – “winiak”).

Brandy is made all over the world, from many grape varieties as well as from other fruits, and also with herbs and plant extracts. The production process is simple, similar to all types, including fermentation, distillation, maturation and coupage. For this reason, the types of brandy are: cognacs, armagnacs, grappa, calvados, but also, for example, kirsch (cherry) or plum brandy (plum). Thanks to this, it is a drink that is very popular in the world and has many different and unique varieties.
