The Cutty Sark blended whisky brand was established on March 23, in the year 1923 as a product of the Berry Bros. company. & Rudd at The Glenrothes Distillery in the Speyside Region of Scotland.

Currently, this whisky is in the portfolio of La Martiniquaise.

The name of this whisky comes from the famous ship - a tea clipper made in the 19th century, which broke many speed records during its operation, thus ensuring a permanent place in the history of commercial shipping. Currently, the ship stands on the quay in the Greenwich district of London and serves as a museum ship for tourists. Its name, and thus the name of whisky, Cutty Sark, comes from the Scottish language and means a short shirt, which was made famous in one of the poems by the great Scottish poet of the Romantic era - Robert Burns. The most famous image of the ship since the year 1955 has been on the label of each edition of Cutty Sark whisky, and it was designed by none other than the Swedish artist and sailor, Carl Georg August Wallin.

Whisky Cutty Sark, regardless of the version offered, due to its mild character (the basis is malt whiskey mainly from the Speyside region), has become one of the most popular blended whiskeys in the world. Its popularity is so enormous that it often appears in literature (including Stephen King, Graham Greene, Haruki Murakami or Clive Cussler) and cinema ("Green Book", "Goodfellas"). In honor of this whiskey, the famous American writer and actress, Elena Passarello, named her cat.
